The Opportunity

The growing concerns raised by homeowners, and other stakeholders in the neighborhoods surrounding the Love Field Airport are a testament to the urgent need for inclusive and effective noise management strategies.

Demanding Accountability:
Our Call for Effective Noise Reduction

01

Pause on Expansion Plans:

All current and future expansion plans for Love Field Airport should be put on hold until comprehensive noise reduction measures are implemented and proven effective. This includes halting the construction of new terminals, runways, and other infrastructure projects that would increase airport capacity and noise levels.

02

Inclusion of Citizens' Concerns in Lease Negotiations:

Community concerns about noise levels must be factored into lease negotiations with airport tenants, including major airlines like Southwest Airlines. We advocate for the incorporation of the 13 approved recommendations from the VNP Stakeholder group into lease agreements, ensuring that noise abatement measures are not just voluntary but integral to the operational framework.

03

Data-Driven Approach:

The city must leverage current and future noise monitoring data to address noise pollution proactively. Instead of relying on residents to report disturbances, utilize existing technology to track, analyze, and resolve issues based on real-time data. This shift ensures solutions are accurate and effective, alleviating the noise burden on our communities.

04

Legal and Policy Advocacy:

Despite FAA regulations prohibiting mandatory noise curfews, we will continue to explore all possible legal avenues to enforce stricter noise abatement measures. Ensuring that noise levels do not exceed the 65 dB threshold is a priority, and we will hold the city accountable for maintaining this standard.
